Well I live Christchurch (New Zealand) which is in the South Island so our winters tend to get very cold, very wet and sometimes even very snowy! (eg. We are in Autumn and already temperatures have dropped to 3 Degrees Celsius in the evenings sometimes!).
I tend to have a love hate relationship with winter too! Winter fashion is so much fun but I hate the cold weather!!!
This Winter I have decided to keep things simple and aim to stay as warm as possible whilst staying true to my style. This means investing in some more woolen coats in all sorts of styles, pulling some sneaky moves with the thermals and stocking up on boots in all forms, colours, heights and styles!
In winter I find it a wee bit harder to jaz an outfit up due to the impending doom of having to put a coat over top of it all so I keep my outfits simple and add some pop with my coats and shoes!
(Black skinny jeans and long sleeve button ups are my go to items most days! Along with microfiber black tights! )
I just recently purchase some booties which I predict are going to be a pretty common sight on my feet this winter:
‘Udo’ - Black, Wedge Heel ankle bootie from Overland RRP$259.90
The good thing about the cold weather in winter is it gives you the opportunity to experiment with layers, all sorts of colours, fabrics and styles! Don’t be afraid to rock whatever you want! Because if you are confident and comfortable it is going to look great!! :)

I know I sure as hell used to be and am still very apprehensive when it comes to investing in any bright and bold colours! I tend to stick to very dark shades such as Olive green, Burgundy, Maroon and Greys or neutral colours like putty, cream and taupe.
SO! How can you start to embrace colour in your closet and break out of the lovely warm and comfy black hole? Start like I did! With subtle incorporation’s into your usual black on black outfit!
A handy wee helpful site I stumbled across a while back was Pantones fashion colour report! They tend to up to date with each seasons colour trends and even give you colour examples! Currently the Fashion Colour Report Fall 2012 is a great example of some of those subtle darker and neutral colours you can branch out and take a risk with!

A few of the colours I have incorporated here are also from the Men’s colour palette but you know me! I can’t help but be attracted to menswear! PLUS A lady can rock any colour a man does and vise versa!
Starting simple and pairing your colours with Black and white tops or bottoms will make it an easier transition! Start with the deeper colours and work your way lighter!
Lookbook.nu is an amazing place for daily inspiration when it comes to colour combos and ways to wear it!
Here are a few I stumbled across!

These looks can be found Here, Here, Here and Here
And lets not forget the boys!

This is Perfect! Absolutely LOVE her skirt!

Really would like to try pull off the whole Black fur look this winter! Should I try it?

Would you like some toast?
A seemingly harmless offer until dear old Deagan followed this with “You’ll have to be filmed eating it though!” As part of his Uni project he was experimenting with how art inflicts conversation and we all know food always does this, so why not film some of us harmless people have a wee munch!
Daegan incorporated this wee project with the opening of Room Four:
“Room Four is an open studio and community art space with the purpose of providing a friendly, non-threatening environment for emerging artists to show their work, as well as to create a venue that is completely open to the public; both artistic and non-artistic alike.
Our primary aim is to broaden the public’s perception of what art is, can be and what it can achieve by organising regular events and initiating socially engaging, interactive projects for the general public.”
Situated at 336 St Asaph Street in Christchurch, New Zealand I would highly recommend if you can to stop by and have a wee perv! It is Absolutely WONDERFUL!
Also situated in this wonderful they call The Archive is Galaxy Records and a smitten wee bar called the Darkroom!
Christchurch has many hidden beauties and I aim to show them all to you!
